I sympathize with your situation, caring for aged parents is very demanding It is good to know your mom appreciates all you do for her .So sorry to hear her sister is being so irrational , you would think she would realize they only have a few good years left to enjoy each others company. Hopefully things will turn around soon for them . (BTW , your brother is a stinker ! )

My Brother Counsels My Mother About Her Sister & Me
by minimus inmonths ago my aunt told my mother that because she associated with me and she knew what my stand for the "truth" was, that she must stop associating with me because her association with me was a way for "the demons" to get to my mother who could then go to my aunt and others.
my aunt told my mom that if she didn't stop her association that she couldn't continue with seeing her own sister on a weekly basis.
my mom will be 80 this summer and my aunt is 82. my mother told her that she would not stop seeing her (1) son that "takes care of her" and that if my aunt's conscience was demanding of her to refrain from association, then so be it.

What is most important ? to approach a JW with? Any current changes in WT?
by whyizit ini have recently been having a dialogue with my jw friend on the "blood" doctrine.
i've heard about others who have used the wt involvement with the un (which i am not very familiar with).
others say to use the failed prophecies.

It is highly unusual to study that long and not be baptized ! The general rule is study through one book which takes 6 months to one year , and then the householder should be conforming to JW ways if not then study is suppose to be dropped. The older witness lady could be unaware of changes , so many are unless they are on top of things. Selective memory happens alot too. She at least should be aware of the new light about the generation of 1914. I think your line of reasoning is good. You might have her consider the belief on disfellowshipping, and if she really understands the impact of that belief especially if she has children.

What do you believe in now?
by janelle ini just stumbled on this site today, and am i ever glad i did!!!
i was raised as a witness, my mom being a witness and my dad a non believer.
growing up i never wanted to follow all the rules, and often broke them behind my mothers back.

Welcome to the board , you will find many that have similar stories as yours. personally I am in a state of re-learning what I believe and don't believe.I haven't made any concrete decisions yet .I have opened my eyes that what I use to accept as truth is really quite far from it. Hope to hear more from you.

Ever had to go to hospital?
by greendawn inin general have you been physically healthy in your life or did you ever have a serious physical illness to the point that you needed hospitalisation?
fortunately up to now i never had any such illness nor did ppl of my age that i know, except one (heart operation).
the only one that died actually got killed in an accident at work after the machine he was operating snatched him and minced him.

I had a trip to the E.R. with an allergic reaction to Paxil ,an anti-depressant drug. It caused a seratoin rush which felt like my insides were on fire.

has anyone ever...?
by bonnzo inwhile lurking, fading, or like me, a disgruntled dud who wishes to remain anonymous, found out that a fellow poster was a relative, friend, or just someone you knew?
i found out about one when i first registered and eventually revealed myself because i trust this person.
i just found another one that i dont trust at all!

I have the very same experience going on. Have not put in FS reports since October and last meeting was in Janurary. Up until this time whole family has been active members for the past 20 some years in this same congregation.......Not one phone call......... Maybe it is a new light type thing that if you stop coming they feel you've made your desicion, and it saves them from confronting you. I don't know ? It is interesting to me that in the past few weeks I was going through a stressful time with a close relative (JW) , serious surgery , and I know elders were informed by others , yet not one phone call of concern . Yet the christian women I work with and don't know very well came over to me very concerned about the situation and even offered to say a prayer for my family .....I told her thank you very much, and accepted her generousity. Who is showing the true christian spirit ??? Not hard to figure out .. Honestly I can't say I really care any more since I realize this religion is based on lies . My husband on the other hand still is a believer and would have appreciated support .

I hope you played frisbee in the parking lot with her cd too ! My heart goes out to you . You were right she will not be your last , in fact the best is yet to come . Get out there and find the new and improved "her" in your life . And for goodness sake steer clear of any JW she demons.

I am the type of person that needs to know why ... And I am finding out more and more there are so many people content to just believe what they are told . Recently, I asked my husband how much does he want me to tell him about what I find out researching .And he say's he doesn't know ! In other words he would rather remain blissfully ignorant . My sister faced serious surgery and when I tried to get her to at least think about the blood issue she just ignored me like I hadn't said a thing. Then she just mimicked what some HLC member had told her . Be brave, be smart, develop your preceptive powers . Think for yourself !
